Vitória

For Bahia and the sport Vitória is undoubtedly a very important name in history. More than a tradition in the social and Sporting environment, this group represents values and is capable of defining the very city of Bahia.

Founded on May 13th, 1899, was the first social club of the state founded by Brazilian. Before him, only the British had done it, yet a project that lasted a short time.

For its part, Vitória, an abstraction until then, it still lives. It was named because of the Corredor da Vitória, part of Salvador in which lived their founders, all of noble families in Bahia.

In 1922 it was already dreaming of building their particular field, what happened on August 12th, 1923. In 1937, more precisely on February 21st, is recognized as a Public Service by State Decree No. 8817.

As a reference that has always been, Vitória inaugurated an unprecedented sports venues and even made history with numerous actions so far surprising as the first hiring of a masseuse for athletes in 1927, and the creation of a portfolio of partners in 1932.

In its origins were not allowed even political discussions, although they are highly politicized. Inside Vitória, everybody was only one thing: Vitória. That has always been enough to say to be part of a select group of Bahian society. And so it stayed until today.

In recent decades the glories in football helped the club to be a "mass team ". Yet all are invited to stay, at least in regard to memory, with the ideals of the foundation. Who says to be Vitória is heir of the name and the heavy red and black tradition.
